Linkers go for the gold!
In the spirit of friendly competition, Linkers strove to prove their academic prowess and aptitude as they contended “for the gold” in Link’s second annual Academic Olympics earlier this month. Working in eight teams which crossed grade levels, students prepared for the “games,” which covered the core areas of study – math, science, English, and history. read more
Pingry students volunteer at Link
A team of eleven students from Pingry School (the Upper School) in Martinsville, NJ arrived at Link today to perform community service at Link in accordance with Pingry’s annual Community Service Day. read more
Linkers Compete in Math Competition
Seventh graders Tochi Emeghara, Kai Volcy and Deja Arrington participated in the second annual Saint Vincent Academy mathematics competition today. Hosted by the SVA Math Club, the event is designed to encourage middle school girls to see math as challenging and fun and to experieince a day in a high school. The winning team was from another school, but the event organizers indicated that the scores were very close! Congratulations to the girls for “doing one’s best!”

“Sophisticated Ladies” Take Road Trip
The Wednesday lunch group of 10 eighth grade girls, mentored by Link trustee Patricia Devine-Harms, visited Sika Corporation in Lyndhurst, Montclair State University in Montclair and The Chocolate Path in Montclair on March 30, 2011, meeting with professionals and learning more about career opportunities.

Linkers Attend Ice Hockey Skills Weekend
8th graders Austin Spence and Mohammed Camera attended the annual Willie O’Ree Ice Hockey Skills Weekend at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. The weekend included participating in a skills and drills clinic; hearing from guest speakers talking about safety, goal setting and the importance of academic achievement; meeting NHL alumni; and attending a Sabres practice and a game. The event, sponsored by the NHL and the Buffalo Sabres, is part of NHL’s Hockey is For Everyone initiative. The boys were sponsored for this by NJGoals Ahead, an affiliate of the initiative and the organization that provides ice hockey lessons for a group of Linkers on Wednesday evenings.
